Look around Florence Welch’s fabulous pad

Florence Welch has lived in South London her whole life and she has firmly set her roots here in Kennington. Just a short 10-minute hop to her mother’s home in Camberwell, which she regularly visits most Sundays. She has said how she finds it difficult to leave her home when touring and looking at the pictures you can see why.

Inside Florence’s beautiful house

Florence Home has appeared in a number of Style and property magazines, including Vogue below.

Described as a charmingly livable, small-scale Georgian house—probably originally a worker’s cottage, maybe for an employee of the gasworks that still looms at the end of the block. She chose the area not only for the proximity to Mom’s but because, she says, “the colour of the gasworks is so beautiful—I wanted my living room to be that colour! It’s like someone turned a smoke machine on.” Plus, she adds, in this part of the city you can round a corner and catch a glimpse of the London Eye or the flags flying high above Parliament.

The cover of the 2018 Album High as Hope features Florence in her undecorated home. You can see some more shots here on the fan club website

South London forever

High on Hope features many references to South London including this Love letter to South London in which name-checks her favourite pub, The Joiners Arms in Camberwell,

When I go home alone
I drive past the place where I was born
And the places that I used to drink
Young and drunk and stumbling in the street
Outside the Joiners Arms like foals unsteady on their feet
With the art students and the boys in bands
High on E and holding hands with someone that I just met

It was at the Joiners Arms that she gave a small intimate gig to launch her album, High as Hope back in July 2018 – details here.
